PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

The upcoming Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure is an official European Poker Tour event to be held from January 5-10, 2009. Tournaments will be styled as No Limit Hold ‘em events. Buy-in to the Main Event has been upped to $10,000 this year, and an additional $25K High-Roller event has been added. The 2009 PCA will also include four side tournaments, the $1K, the $2K, and the $5 K No Limit Hold ‘em events, as well as a Battleship tourney.

The 2008 Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure presented $2 million to the first place winner, Bertrand Grospellier, who outlasted more than 1100 players including Team PokerStars Pro members Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker, and Barry Greenstein. A large percentage of the entrants were online poker players who made the tournament via satellites at PokerStars. Like all PokerStars sponsored live events, this tournament gets major coverage online on the PokerStars website.

Once a World Poker Tour event, this tournament, hosted by the five-star resort, Atlantis Resort and Casino at Paradise Island in the Bahamas, is now part of the European Poker Tour. Those who win their seats via PokerStars will get a package worth $14,300 that includes buy-in to the main event, hotel accommodations, and extra cash for other expenses. Satellites start as low as $7.50 or get in for 500 FPPs. All of the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure satellites can be located in the “Events” section under the “PCA” tab. Of course, if you want to buy into the tournament for cash, you can use your PokerStars account to purchase a ticket right now, or buy your ticket at the door. They will cap entrants at 1400, and there will be a live satellite event on the eve of the tournament, January 4. Entry into any PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is available to players age 18 and up.

Accompanying the PCA is the PokerStars Poker Camp Add-on that will run from January 7-9, 2009 at the same location. You can get in on this once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity for an additional cost of $1,250, or you can win entry into the Poker Camp via satellites or use your FPPs for your tuition. The chance to learn from Team PokerStars Pros like Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Negreanu, and Vanessa Rousso is truly a one-shot chance. Also, retired FBI agent, Joe Navarro, will present a class on non-verbal communication that can be applied at the poker tables.

The Poker Camp classes are set up on a flexible schedule so players can attend a variety of courses based on their specific needs as players. Not to interfere with the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure evetns, most classes will occur during the mornings of events to allow attendance to both. There are also afternoon Live Hand Analysis sessions available for those who get knocked out of the main event early. Topics that will be covered in the curriculum include Game Theory, Advanced Poker Math, Multi-Tabling, Online Versus Live Poker, and early, middle, and final stage strategies. After class, 60 camp attendees can buy into a nightly tournament to test what they’ve learned against other students in the program.
