One way for new online poker players to build a bankroll or to start their bankroll is to play (and win, of course) cash freerolls. A cash freeroll is a poker tournament where there is no entry fee and players have a chance to win a cash prize. Normally cash freerolls have a small prize pool, usually less than a few hundred dollars. There will be special cash freerolls like PDCPoker’s $2,500 freeroll.

One downside to the large cash freerolls is the amount of players, sometimes numbering up to 10,000. Another negative aspect to cash freerolls of this size is that most players will play very loose and make lots of questionable calls because they have no money invested in the game.
