CakePoker.com was launched in 2005 and is based in the Netherlands Antilles. The site runs off the Cake Poker network (their own) and is quickly becoming a big favorite with online poker players. The site has continued to grow since the 2005 launch and now has approximately 2000 real money players at the tables with most low - mid level ring games being full through peak hours.

The software at CakePoker provides life like graphics and each character is based after a photograph of a real model. Essentially the site has made the graphics as 3D as possible without having the associated disadvantages such as slower game speed and lag issues. The software is generally reliable and the lobby navigation has improved significantly making finding various games and tournaments easy.

CakePoker.com offers the usual game variety including NL Texas Holdem, Limit Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi Lo. Table game limits at the site range from the $.02/$.04 limit up to $5/$10. Tournament buy ins range anywhere from $1.10 to $258.

One place that Cake Poker makes up for some of its misses (such as low player traffic) is with its competition level. Still being a relatively new site with a lower limit focus, this room is a must for players who like fast action and easy money. Almost all limit levels on the site have weak inexperienced players making this a desirable site for experienced players who want to maximize value against their opponents.

Another serious positive for CakePoker is their player loyalty program known as Gold Card Rewards. Players are awarded Gold Cards every time they play ring games or buy into tournaments. Each of these gold cards represents a real card from a 52 card standard deck. As you collect gold cards, there are a number of ways you can use them to cash in including a daily lottery, monthly hand (use your cards to complete the hand), exchanging for tournament entries and even for the grand $52,000 prize (won by getting every gold card in the deck). Although we take some points off Cake Poker for their low player traffic volume, we do recommend this poker site as they have a dedicated and friendly staff and a kick ass loyalty program that is differentiated from most.
